Hill Tribe Villages and the royal projects

The ethnically diverse and culturally distinct Northern Thailand Hill Tribes are comprised of seven major groups: Karen, Lahu, Hmong, Lisu, Akha, Mien, and Padaung. Most of our tours incorporate a visit to one or more of these hill tribes, where we learn about their traditional culture, arts and crafts, agriculture, and lifestyle. We also offer hill tribe home stays which bring you true cultural immersion and provide a unique perspective along with the possibility of making new friends as well.

The Royal Projects

Founded by the King, these agricultural royal projects started as initiatives to move hill tribes away from opium cultivation by providing them with alternative crops and a market for their sale. Over time, these have grown to encompass the cultivation and promulgation of a very wide variety of vegetables, fruits and flowers to suit the various climates and soil conditions found throughout Northern Thailand. A trip to Northern Thailand would not be complete without including a visit! Most of our tours include a Royal Project visit, and we also have overnight and multinight stays. Truly a remarkable experience!
